Although Matan Yair started filming Unseen in 2012 it was only after the success of Scaffolding (UKJFF 2017) that he could complete it. It is a nuanced and sensitive film in which the line between reality and fiction is blurred to such an extent that it is almost impossible to tell them apart. Yair plays himself, a high school teacher, who tries to connect with both his students and his father, who abandoned him when he was 13. Unseen is a cinematic triumph that cements Yair’s status as one of the best Israeli filmmakers working today.
