Fleeing his native Austria as a child in the 1930s, Georges Jorisch had few memories of the house he used to live in. Almost seven decades later, he embarked on a near impossible mission to locate and retrieve the works of art that had decorated the grand family estate and were stolen – like his childhood – by the Nazis. Directed by his granddaughter, The Heir is both a lovely tribute to Jorisch who passed away in 2012 and a fascinating study of Nazi looted art.
