Four years into their relationship, Israeli gay couple Motty and Alon decide that they want to have a child. Ruling out the option of co-parenting, they embark on a long and expensive surrogacy process in the USA. Director Hendrik Schäfer follows them in the months leading to the birth of their twins and immediately after it, documenting their unbridled joy – and trepidation. Intimate and refreshingly honest, Double Income, Kids chronicles the couple’s journey to parenthood, while celebrating the increased visibility of alternative families in Israel today.
Film is followed by a Q&A with Motty and Alon in conversation with Andrew Comben, CEO of Brighton Festival.
This film is available to watch until 7:30pm, Thursday 12th November.
