Shadi, who works as an architect in Italy, returns to his hometown of Nazareth for the wedding of his sister, Amal. He spends most of his time there helping his father, Abu Shadi, personally deliver hundreds of wedding invitations to family and friends, including two Jewish friends of Abu Shadi’s, who Shadi suspects of being Israel spies. With superb performances from real-life father and son Mohammad and Saleh Bakri, Wajib is an immensely enjoyable family drama that explores generational gaps within Arab-Israeli society, including conflicting views on emigration, personal freedom and relations with Israeli Jews.
