Co-directed by prizewinning photojournalist Uriel Sinai, “this explosive and engrossing 60-minute homage” (New York Times) includes searing portraits of women and men displaying their numbers almost as badges of honour. One used his as the code for a family safe. Another always covered his with long sleeves. Three men with consecutive numbers were miraculously reunited. There are tender love stories within the larger epic of loss yet the message is somehow upbeat and about the dignity of survival.

Followed by discussion with artist David Breuer-Well Dr Toby Haggith, Senior Curator, Department of Research, Imperial War Museum on the role of art and culture in keeping history alive.
