The beloved Volkswagen Beetle is a timeless classic that almost singlehandedly resurrected the German economy after the war. The car – the embodiment of Hitler’s dream, whose innovative design is attributed to Dr Ferdinand Porsche – was in fact based on an earlier model, the Standard Superior, built by Josef Ganz, a Jewish car engineer who had to flee Germany following the Nazi rise to power. This delightful documentary tells the incredible story of a forgotten cultural hero and the surprising origins of a 20th  century icon.
