The historic victory of the Likud party, led by Menachem Begin, in 1977 not only dramatically transformed Israel’s political landscape by bringing the Labour Party’s long reign to an end, but also achieved something few people believed was possible: a peace treaty with Egypt. 2019 marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the agreement between Prime Minister Begin and the Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. A Song of Peace looks back at the Israeli leader who, despite being labelled a hawk and a warmonger, was brave enough to reach for peace.

Followed by a panel discussion with Professor Gerald Steinberg, Ed Husain and Dr Menna Abukhadra. Chaired by Dina Shiloh.
