“In a world hungering for depictions of national valor and compassion, the movie’s variations on heroism are a boon” – Variety
After the fall of France in 1940 and before the US joined the war, Britain stood alone against Hitler. Desperate for new recruits, Churchill ordered the newly formed SEO (Special Operations Executive) to train women as spies. This gripping drama tells the story of two of them – American Virginia Hall and Muslim pacifist Noor Inayat Khan – as well as that of their recruiter, Jewish-Romanian spymistress Vera Atkins, who, having escaped anti-Semitism in her home country, found herself in a powerful position to fight it from her adoptive land. Suspenseful and inspiring in equal measure, A Call to Spy is a tribute to the many heroines whose extraordinary bravery and ingenuity helped defeat evil.
