Having dedicated his cinematic career to studying the lives of others – including Whitney Houston, Leonard Cohen and Kurt Cobain – award-winning documentary filmmaker Nick Broomfield finally turns the camera on himself and his family. His brand-new film is a beautiful and vivid love letter to his late father Maurice – a celebrated photographer known for his arresting images of post-war British industry – and his mother Sonja, a Czech Jew, who, given the trauma of the Holocaust, did not reveal her Jewish roots to her son until he was in his 20s. An incredibly moving documentary about four generations of a British family – and an entire nation.
