Lisa Appignanesi OBE is a writer and cultural commentator. Her books include Mad, Bad and Sad: A History of Women and the Mind Doctors, and the family memoir, Losing the Dead, amongst many other prize winning titles. She is the Chair of this year’s Man Booker International Prize and also of the Royal Society of Literature. For many years, she was Chair of the Freud Museum London. With the late John Forrester, she wrote Freud’s Women.
