Volunteers and interns’ testimonies

“Working as an intern at UK Jewish Film has been a most valuable experience. I have loved working with them, I have learned a lot, developed my skills as well as gained new ones. What is particularly special about this internship is the people. They make you feel important, like part of the team. You get plenty of support and equally many chances to contribute. The role itself is very varied, which makes it more exciting. Not one day is the same. They make sure that you are challenged and it really is a role that both requires strong organisation skills and creativity. Here at UK Jewish Film you’re not just an intern: you’re a valued member of the team.”  Esli

“Interning at UK Jewish Film helped me to develop logistical, marketing and creative skills. Working as part of a supportive team to organise and deliver the 2012 Film Festival was a great learning experience and a fantastic opportunity which helped me to begin a career in film production and distribution.” Caitlin

“Working with the UKJFF team has been one of the most rewarding working experience in the film industry for me. When I first came there, working for a film festival was entirely new to me and I felt welcomed right away. People in the office took their time to explain to me their expectations as well giving me a lot of independence, which is ideal. The office functions like a small family- in the best way possible. Therefore, I acquired a lot of experience as I was able to take initiatives and advice from my colleagues. I also had the chance to work on other projects with them after my internship. This proves that the company trains you well as well as does not forget about you if you have done a good job. It is rare enough to be said and appreciated.” Sarah

“The UKJF office has been one of the most vibrant and friendliest work environments I have ever been in, with a group of talented and generous people who are always happy to give you assignments and any support you might need. I would highly recommend it to any true film lover!” Liana

“Being an intern for the UKJF has been a very interesting experience and helped me understand how one of the leading film festivals in the UK operates. It was also a great opportunity to work in a competent environment and to get familiar with Jewish themed films.” Cristina

“UKJF screens fascinating movies which cannot be seen in the UK otherwise. As a film-lover, contributing to their work is a great experience! It is also an opportunity to experience the workings of the culture, events and media industry and has helped me develop my organisational and administrative skills.” Christina

“It’s been a very good experience to intern with UKJF! Very exciting to get a glimpse of how the festival is set up and I enjoyed my little jobs in marketing, research or filing films. A good opportunity to apply my computer skills and to work in an inspiring environment!” Stefanie

“As a young graduate, I was looking for an opportunity to get hands-on experience in the film industry in an impelling environment. I thought I was being idealistic and that it would be hard to find an opportunity that would match my aspirations…
But I found one at UKJF! Working as an intern both during the film festival and after the festival was a very beneficial experience!
I was working with a strongly committed team of interesting, welcoming and generous people that are passionate about the film industry and willing to give their best in order to show how world cinema depicts Jewish themes and cultures. They had confidence in me and therefore allowed me to perform various tasks.
I learnt a lot about the different stages of a film festival organisation, from dealing with guests and members, writing content for social media marketing, to doing some research on films, and writing and translating films synopses and content.
If I am available in the near future, I would be delighted to have another chance to work with them on upcoming projects.” Geraldine
