Christopher Plummer (The Sound of Music) is back in uniform in this captivating thriller as Kaiser Wilhelm II, exiled in Holland following Germany’s defeat in the Great War. It’s 1941 and the SS sends wounded officer Brandt (Jai Courtney) to protect the Kaiser’s life. There he falls for pretty maid Mieke (Lily James), a Jewish spy in disguise, passing intel to the Brits. An original take on the Second World War, where opposition to Hitler is expressed not only by the Führer’s obvious enemies but also by his own people.
The screening on Monday 2nd October 6.20pm is this month’s Film Club.
