We are thrilled to be hosting documentary filmmaker Marc Isaacs.
Recognised as one of the forefront documentary filmmakers of his generation, Marc Isaacs creates intimate portraits fuelled by insights, compassion and humour. His empathic and deeply moving documentaries explore the extraordinary world of everyday, presenting a unique vision of modern Britain. His films have won Grierson, Royal Television Society and BAFTA awards as well as numerous international film festivals prizes. A comprehensive collection of his films – From Lift to The Road – has just come out. Marc’s filmmaking is characterised by a non-judgmental way of seeing, and a distinct approach to the documentary form itself, developing a relationship between character, time and space, that merge together to create a coherent form in which aesthetics narrative and themes sit comfortably and complement each other. In pushing the formal boundaries of his films, Marc is often involved in creating hybrid works that challenge traditional notions of the documentary.
The conversation with Marc will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
